Injector light on in my Fiat Petra

Well...the ignition coil issue is where the injector light comes on and the car completely loses power, but still continues to run like as though its running on a single cylinder or something. The other problem which I am facing is...the injector light comes on occasionally and car loses power and shuts down. Then I start it and its back running properly. So its more like an issue with RPM sensor or something in the throttle body or some such sort. But well..when they changed my ignition coil..i was also wondering..if i got conned..but after hearing similar woes from other palio users and also the fact that I have not confronted the situation which I first mentioned about...i think it was indeed required. pertaining to my other milder issue of occasionally and randomnly engine shuttin off...I am in the process of getting it checked and repaired. will keep you posted on that. any inputs from you too will be appreciated.

An update. I had checked with Bharati Automobiles and they confirmed that their ECU aalyser was not working and had been sent to Italy for repairs. So, when they said they dd not find any problems with the injector lights coming on, that meant simple physical checking.

Unimpressed, I called Shaman, and they picked the car up, checked, and replaced the ignition coil.

This was a fortnight ago. I have not had the same problem of losing power and the injector light coming on since then.

By the way, its a Petra 1.6ELX.

Firstly, how do you differentiate between the two situations where first you got the ignition coil replaced because the engine was losing power, and later, you have the engine losing power every once in a while. Is it possible that the ignition coil replacement was not required?

I have got the injectors cleaned and the wiring checked. No problem since. But then, this problem does not show up very regularly. It comes without a warning, and I have not been able to connect it to any particular incident or situation. Till now, I have driven the car for a week since I got it serviced. Lets see. I am waiting for the problem to resurface. Till then, I shall drive with an ear open for any indication.

One thing that has happened since the servicing is that when I start my car, after the self does its job and stops making the racket, a new sound is heard. It is s short sound and lasts for a split second. Its like a cross between a paper being torn and a spark.

Any guesses?

Any part from ignition / sensors change requires a ECU reset. It should be done to ensure proper operation..If not done please do it. This should solve the problem.
